Have you tried stamped cross stitch? Counted cross stitch is done on special fabric with evenly spaced holes in it so that your stitching looks very uniform. But there are some items that just look better with normal cloth instead of counted cross stitch fabric or counted cross stitch panels sewn into them. Aprons and pillowcases are two items that come to mind. The fabric used for stamped cross stitch is generally a polyester cotton blend. The pattern is stamped onto the fabric with a wash away ink. Once the stitching is completed, the item can be washed and the ink disappears.
Besides aprons and pillowcases, there are also quilts, quilt blocks, samplers, tablecloths, lap quilts, baby quilts, and Christmas stockings that come ready to do stamped cross stitch onto. If you have never tried stamped cross stitch or embroidery, we suggest you give it a whirl!
We carry Bucilla, Tobin, Dimensions, Janlynn, and a few others.
I can’t do counted cross stitch – it makes me cross-eyed after a few hours. But I can knock out a stamped cross stich pattern in no time!
